Indian passport holders need a visa to enter Canada. The Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) for tourism costs CAD 100 (about INR 6,100) per person, applied online at ircc.canada.ca or through a Visa Application Centre (VFS Global in India). Processing times vary widely, from 20 to 80 days depending on the office and season. Biometrics are required (CAD 85 per person, valid for 10 years) and must be given at a VFS Global centre after submitting the application. There is no visa on arrival or eVisa for Indian nationals.

Required documents include a passport valid for the duration of stay (Canada does not enforce a 6-month rule but recommends it), two passport photos (50x70mm), completed IMM 5257 form, proof of funds (bank statements for 4 to 6 months showing roughly CAD 1,000 per week of stay), travel itinerary, proof of accommodation, employment letter, property records or other ties to India, and purpose of travel statement. Family or friends in Canada can provide an invitation letter but it does not guarantee approval. Refusals are common; strong financial and employment ties to India matter.

Direct flights from Delhi to Toronto run about 14 hours 30 minutes on Air India and Air Canada. Delhi to Vancouver is about 12 hours. Mumbai to Toronto connections through London, Dubai, or Frankfurt run 16 to 20 hours. Canada uses the Canadian dollar (CAD). No mandatory vaccinations, but a medical exam may be required if you visited certain countries in the past year. Arrivals complete a customs declaration through the ArriveCAN app or paper form. Canada has strict food import rules, with fines up to CAD 1,300 for undeclared items.

Delhi Metro Airport Express runs from New Delhi Railway Station to T3 in 18–20 minutes (₹60 one-way). From Shivaji Stadium (central Delhi) it takes 24 minutes. The line has four stations: New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, and IGI Airport (T3). T1 (domestic) is not directly served; take the metro to T3 and the free airport bus shuttle to T1.Prepaid taxis from the terminal use a metered system with fixed rates; central Delhi costs ₹400–600. Ola and Uber operate widely and are often cheaper. Auto-rickshaws are not permitted on the expressway.

The Canada Line runs from the airport to Waterfront/downtown in 26 minutes for CAD $4.45 on Compass card. Trains depart every 6–8 minutes from the International Terminal station (basement level). Taxis queue outside arrivals; metered fares to downtown are CAD $35–45. Uber and Lyft have a designated pick-up zone.Rental car desks are in the terminal. The VALET shuttle also connects to other transit points on Sea Island. YVR is particularly well-organised for transfers; pre-clearance facility clears U.S.-bound passengers through U.S. customs before departure.

Temperate oceanic climate. One of the mildest in Canada. Winters (November–March) are wet and overcast at 2–8°C. Snow is infrequent at sea level, but when it does fall, the city struggles and the airport can see delays. Fog in winter and early spring is a more consistent disruption risk. Summers (June–August) are warm and dry at 20–27°C with very little rain.

Wildfire smoke from BC and Alberta can reduce visibility at the airport during August and September. Pack rain gear for autumn through spring. Summers are dry and clear.
