Indian passport holders need a visa to enter Australia. The most common option for tourism is the Visitor visa (subclass 600), applied online through the Australian Department of Home Affairs at immi.homeaffairs.gov.au. The application fee is AUD 190 (about INR 10,400). Processing takes 20 to 29 days for most applications, though it can stretch to 2 months during peak periods. The visa allows stays of up to 3, 6, or 12 months depending on the grant. There is no visa on arrival or eVisa for Indian passport holders.

Required documents include a passport valid for at least 6 months, completed online application (ImmiAccount), passport-sized photo, proof of sufficient funds (bank statements for the last 3 to 6 months, roughly AUD 5,000 per month of stay), proof of accommodation or host details, return flight itinerary, employment or business proof, and evidence of ties to India (property, family, employment) to demonstrate intent to return. A Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) assessment is part of the evaluation.

Direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Sydney and Melbourne run 11 to 13 hours on Air India and Qantas. Connections through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Bangkok add 3 to 5 hours. Australia uses the Australian dollar (AUD). All arrivals must complete an Incoming Passenger Card declaring food, plant material, and animal products. Biosecurity is strict, with fines up to AUD 626 for undeclared items. No mandatory vaccinations, but yellow fever vaccination is required if arriving from an endemic country. Australian immigration runs SmartGate for ePassport holders but Indian passports go through staffed counters.

Delhi Metro Airport Express runs from New Delhi Railway Station to T3 in 18–20 minutes (₹60 one-way). From Shivaji Stadium (central Delhi) it takes 24 minutes. The line has four stations: New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, and IGI Airport (T3). T1 (domestic) is not directly served; take the metro to T3 and the free airport bus shuttle to T1.Prepaid taxis from the terminal use a metered system with fixed rates; central Delhi costs ₹400–600. Ola and Uber operate widely and are often cheaper. Auto-rickshaws are not permitted on the expressway.

Follow signs from arrivals to the Airtrain platform. Trains to Brisbane CBD take 20 minutes, stopping at Eagle Junction, Fortitude Valley, Central, Roma Street, and South Brisbane (AUD 22.30 walk-up, or AUD 10.95-18.96 pre-booked). Services depart every 15 minutes during peak hours and run until 22:04. The last train is the last train; after that you need a taxi or ride-hail.

Uber and Didi pickup is at the designated rideshare zone on the ground transport level (AUD 25-45 to the CBD, plus AUD 4.86 airport surcharge). Standard taxis queue at the rank and cost AUD 55-80 to central Brisbane. Car rental desks are in the arrivals hall. The Gateway Motorway connects to the Gold Coast (75 minutes south) and Sunshine Coast (90 minutes north) if you are heading past the city.

Brisbane is subtropical with warm, humid summers and dry, mild winters. Summer (December-February) averages 21-30 degrees C with afternoon thunderstorms that build fast and dump heavy rain. February is the wettest month at 150mm. Heatwaves can push past 40 degrees C but are uncommon. Winter (June-August) is dry and pleasant at 10-21 degrees C with cool mornings and warm afternoons. Frost is almost unheard of.

Autumn (March-May) tapers off the humidity with daytime highs of 18-25 degrees C and clear skies. Spring (September-November) warms steadily with occasional dry, windy stretches early on. Annual rainfall is about 1150mm, concentrated in the summer wet season. Pack light layers for winter evenings and breathable clothing for summer. An umbrella earns its keep from November through March.
