Paris (Roissy-en-France, Val-d'Oise) to George (CDG–GRJ) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

French citizens enter South Africa visa-free for up to 90 days. No advance application, no fee. Your passport must be valid for at least 30 days beyond your intended departure from South Africa and have at least 2 blank pages (South Africa is strict about blank pages, and airlines check this before boarding).

At immigration, you receive a visitor visa stamp valid for up to 90 days. Officers may ask for proof of return flights and accommodation. Extensions are possible through the Department of Home Affairs, but apply well before your 90 days expire. Overstaying leads to a 1 to 5 year entry ban depending on the length of the overstay.

Air France flies Paris CDG to Johannesburg and Cape Town direct. South African Airways also operates this route. South Africa uses the rand (ZAR), which trades at roughly ZAR 20 to EUR 1. Cards are widely accepted in cities. No vaccinations are required for direct arrival from France, but if you transit through a yellow fever country (such as Nairobi or Addis Ababa), carry your ICVP. South Africa will deny entry without it.

RER B train runs from central Paris (Châtelet–Les Halles, Gare du Nord) to CDG T2 in 30–35 minutes (€11.80, RATP fare). From T2, a free CDGVAL people mover covers T1 and T3. Train frequency is every 10–15 minutes; service runs from around 5am to midnight.

Taxis from Paris have a fixed fare: €55 to the Right Bank (most of central Paris), €65 to the Left Bank. Journey time is 30–60 minutes depending on traffic on the A1. Ride-hail (Uber, Bolt) is often cheaper. Buses (Le Bus Direct) run from major Left Bank and Right Bank stops (€17).
