Indian passport holders can enter Mauritius visa-free for up to 60 days. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry. You need a return ticket, proof of accommodation, and evidence of sufficient funds (roughly $100 per day, though this is rarely enforced strictly).

At immigration in Mauritius (MRU), you fill out an arrival card. Have your hotel booking confirmation and return ticket handy. Extensions beyond 60 days are possible through the Passport and Immigration Office in Port Louis, filed before expiry. For stays over 90 days, a residence permit is needed. The Premium Visa for remote workers allows a 1-year stay with proof of income over $1,500 per month.

Direct flights from Mumbai and Delhi to Mauritius run about 6 hours 30 minutes to 7 hours 30 minutes on Air Mauritius. IndiGo also operates seasonal direct service. Mauritius uses the Mauritian rupee (MUR), trading at roughly 46 MUR per $1. ATMs are plentiful in Port Louis and tourist areas. No mandatory vaccinations for Indian arrivals, but a yellow fever certificate is required if arriving from an endemic country. The island drives on the left side, same as India.

Mumbai Metro Line 1 (Versova–Ghatkopar) does not serve the airport directly.Currently, Mumbai Local Train (Western Line to Andheri station) plus an auto-rickshaw or taxi to the terminal is a low-cost route (₹15–50 for train, ₹80–120 for rickshaw).App-based cabs (Ola, Uber) cost ₹300–600 from South Mumbai or Bandra depending on traffic. The airport is 30km from Nariman Point/Churchgate; traffic is severe most of the day. Midnight–5am is the most reliable travel window. Black-and-yellow taxis are metered and less comfortable than app cabs.
