Indian passport holders need a Schengen visa to enter France. Apply through VFS Global centres across India (New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Kochi, and others). A short-stay tourist visa (Type C) costs EUR 80 (about INR 7,200) plus a VFS service fee of about INR 2,400. Processing takes 15 calendar days, but summer applications (May to August) can stretch to 45 days. France receives the highest volume of Schengen visa applications from India, so book VFS appointments early.

Required documents include a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the Schengen departure date with two blank pages, completed application form (France-Visas portal), two passport photos (35x45mm), travel medical insurance covering EUR 30,000, confirmed round-trip flight itinerary, hotel bookings or attestation d'accueil from a French host, bank statements for the last 3 months (roughly EUR 100 to 120 per day), income tax returns for 2 to 3 years, employment letter with salary and leave approval, and a cover letter. France has a refusal rate of about 12 to 15% for Indian applicants, so thorough documentation is critical.

Direct flights from Delhi to Paris CDG run about 8 hours 30 minutes on Air India and Air France. Mumbai to Paris is about 9 hours 30 minutes. Bengaluru and Chennai connect via Middle Eastern hubs in 12 to 15 hours total. France uses the euro. No mandatory vaccinations. The RER B train from CDG to central Paris takes 35 minutes for EUR 11.80. Uber and taxis from CDG cost EUR 55 to 60 (fixed rate to Paris Right Bank). Paris metro tickets cost EUR 2.15 each or EUR 16.90 for a carnet of 10 on the Navigo Easy card.

Mumbai Metro Line 1 (Versova–Ghatkopar) does not serve the airport directly.Currently, Mumbai Local Train (Western Line to Andheri station) plus an auto-rickshaw or taxi to the terminal is a low-cost route (₹15–50 for train, ₹80–120 for rickshaw).App-based cabs (Ola, Uber) cost ₹300–600 from South Mumbai or Bandra depending on traffic. The airport is 30km from Nariman Point/Churchgate; traffic is severe most of the day. Midnight–5am is the most reliable travel window. Black-and-yellow taxis are metered and less comfortable than app cabs.

RER B to central Paris (Gare du Nord 25 min, Châtelet 30 min) costs €11.80. Take the free CDGVAL train from T1 or T3 to the RER station at T2 first. Heavy luggage is awkward on this line during rush hour; some platforms have no escalators.Fixed taxis: €55 to Right Bank, €65 to Left Bank. Ride-hail (Uber) costs €40–65. Le Bus Direct coaches run to Montparnasse, Opéra, and the Eiffel Tower (€17, 45–70 min). Connecting to Gare de Lyon or Massy for TGV services is possible via RER B (Denfert-Rochereau transfer).

Temperate oceanic climate. Summers are warm (20–27°C) and mostly dry with occasional thunderstorm delays. Winters are cold and overcast (2–8°C) with frequent rain and periodic frost. Snow is rare but CDG briefly closes when it falls on an unprepared system. Fog is the primary winter flight disruption, particularly November through January.

Spring is mild and wet. Autumn is the most unpredictable season weather-wise. CDG is a major hub. Even moderate weather cascades across European connections. Pack a mid-weight jacket year-round. Summers are rarely hot enough for short sleeves in the evenings.
