Required documents include a passport valid for at least 6 months with two blank pages, completed Form V.2013 (downloadable from the CVASC website), one recent passport photo (48x33mm, white background), confirmed round-trip flight booking, hotel reservations for each night of the stay (or an invitation letter from a Chinese host with their ID copy), and proof of sufficient funds. Business visas (M visa) need an invitation from a Chinese company. The application must be submitted in person or through an authorized agent.
Direct flights from Delhi to Beijing and Shanghai run 5 to 6 hours. Air India, Air China, and IndiGo serve these routes. Mumbai to Shanghai is about 6 hours 30 minutes. China uses the Chinese yuan (CNY/RMB), trading at roughly 7.3 CNY per $1. China runs on mobile payments (WeChat Pay and Alipay), and cash is increasingly difficult to use. Foreign visitors can now link international cards to Alipay for payments. No mandatory vaccinations. China blocks Google, WhatsApp, and most Western social media, so install a VPN before arrival.

BMTC Vayu Vajra (Big10) airport buses run from multiple city points for INR 250–320 and take 45–90 minutes depending on traffic.Ola and Uber from the city centre to the airport cost INR 600–1,000 and take 45–75 minutes in normal traffic. Bengaluru is notorious for severe traffic congestion, especially on Bellary Road and the BIAL access road; allow substantial buffer time during peak hours (08:00–10:30 and 17:30–21:00). Prepaid taxis also operate from the terminal.
Metro Line 7 connects the airport to the city. Transfer to Line 1 or Line 2 for most central destinations including the West Lake area; total journey 60–80 minutes (¥7–10). Operating hours: 6am to 11pm.Taxis to the city centre cost ¥70–110 (metered). DiDi ride-hailing is cheaper and convenient. Airport shuttle coaches (¥20–30) run fixed routes to major hotels. Car rental is available at the terminal. Hangzhou is a 45-minute high-speed train from Shanghai Hongqiao if connecting overland.
Humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and extremely humid (30–38°C) with heavy monsoon rainfall June through September. Thunderstorms and the Meiyu (plum rain) season in June cause regular delays. Typhoons from the South China Sea occasionally affect the region in August–September.
Winters are cold but rarely severe (0–8°C) with occasional frost and light snow. Spring (April–May) is rainy and foggy, which can reduce runway visibility. October and November are the most pleasant and reliable for travel.
