Dutch passport holders enter Croatia freely as EU citizens. No visa, no time limit on stays. Bring your Dutch passport or national ID card (both work since Croatia joined the EU in 2013 and the Schengen area in 2023). For stays beyond 3 months, register at the local police station to obtain a temporary residence certificate. This is a formality for EU citizens.

At Croatian airports, use the EU/EEA lane for faster processing. Since Croatia joined Schengen in January 2023, flights from the Netherlands to Croatia are treated as intra-Schengen, meaning no passport control at all on arrival. Bring your ID anyway since airlines require it for boarding.

Direct flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to Zagreb run about 2 hours 15 minutes on KLM and Croatia Airlines. Seasonal direct routes serve Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, and Pula from Amsterdam and Eindhoven on KLM, Transavia, and EasyJet. Croatia adopted the euro in January 2023, replacing the kuna, so no currency exchange is needed. No mandatory vaccinations. Dubrovnik Old Town has a EUR 35 per day tourist tax from May to September. Split to Hvar by catamaran costs EUR 15 to EUR 25 and takes about 1 hour. Croatian coastal roads are scenic but slow; the A1 motorway from Zagreb to Split takes about 4 hours (toll EUR 20 to EUR 25).

Intercity and Sprinter trains run directly to Schiphol Plaza (the station is inside the terminal) from Amsterdam Centraal every 10–15 minutes (15 min, €5.70). The Intercity Direct from Rotterdam takes 43 minutes (€17.40 with supplement). Trains from The Hague take 35–45 minutes.

Taxis from central Amsterdam cost €35–50 and take 20–35 minutes. Highway A4 is frequently congested during morning rush. Bus 397 runs from Amsterdam Leidseplein to Schiphol (30 min, €5.50) for a cheaper landside alternative.
