Dutch passport holders can enter Indonesia with a Visa on Arrival (VoA) for 30 days, costing IDR 500,000 (about EUR 29). Pay by card or cash at the VoA counter before immigration at major airports including Bali Ngurah Rai (DPS) and Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta (CGK). The VoA is extendable once for another 30 days at a local immigration office for IDR 500,000. For stays beyond 60 days, apply for a B211A social/cultural visa before travel.

Passport must be valid for at least 6 months with one blank page. Have your return ticket accessible. The eVoA at molina.imigrasi.go.id lets you prepay and skip the airport VoA queue, processed within 2 days. Indonesia also offers a free visa-free entry for 30 days (no extension possible), but the VoA is worth the fee if you might want extra time. Given the historical ties between the Netherlands and Indonesia, Dutch nationals are frequent visitors, and the process is well-practiced at Indonesian airports.

Direct flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to Jakarta run about 13 hours on Garuda Indonesia and KLM. KLM also flies direct to Bali Denpasar (about 14 hours 30 minutes). Indonesia uses the Indonesian rupiah (IDR), trading at roughly 17,400 IDR per EUR 1. ATMs are everywhere in Bali, Jakarta, and Yogyakarta. No mandatory vaccinations. Indonesia is 5 to 7 hours ahead of the Netherlands depending on the island and daylight saving time. Grab (ride-hailing) is the go-to for taxis throughout the country.

Intercity and Sprinter trains run directly to Schiphol Plaza (the station is inside the terminal) from Amsterdam Centraal every 10–15 minutes (15 min, €5.70). The Intercity Direct from Rotterdam takes 43 minutes (€17.40 with supplement). Trains from The Hague take 35–45 minutes.

Taxis from central Amsterdam cost €35–50 and take 20–35 minutes. Highway A4 is frequently congested during morning rush. Bus 397 runs from Amsterdam Leidseplein to Schiphol (30 min, €5.50) for a cheaper landside alternative.
