Ethiopian passport holders need a visa to enter Thailand. Apply at the Royal Thai Embassy in Addis Ababa (accredited through Nairobi) or the nearest Thai embassy. The single-entry tourist visa costs USD 40 and allows a 60-day stay. Processing takes 3 to 5 business days. There is no eVisa option for Ethiopian passport holders.
Required documents include a completed application form, a recent passport photo, passport with at least 6 months validity and 2 blank pages, proof of accommodation, return flight booking, and evidence of funds (bank statement showing at least THB 20,000 or equivalent). Thai immigration may check funds on arrival.
Thailand does not require yellow fever vaccination for direct arrivals, but if your ICVP shows Ethiopia as a recent departure point, immigration may ask for it. Carry it to be safe. Bangkok is a common transit hub for Ethiopian Airlines flights to Southeast Asia and East Asia. Thai baht (THB) is easily obtained from ATMs at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Exchange rates at the airport are worse than in the city, so withdraw just enough for the taxi.
