Ethiopian passport holders need a visa to enter Brazil. Apply for a VITUR (tourist visa) through the Brazilian embassy or consulate. There is no Brazilian embassy in Addis Ababa, so you will need to apply at the nearest one, which is in Nairobi or Cairo. The tourist visa costs USD 80 and allows a stay of up to 90 days.
Required documents include a completed online application via the Brazilian e-Consular portal, a passport valid for at least 6 months, a recent photo, proof of financial means (bank statements), round-trip flight booking, and proof of accommodation. Processing takes 5 to 15 business days.
Yellow fever vaccination is required for travelers arriving from Ethiopia. Carry your ICVP. Brazil takes this seriously and checks at immigration. The 90-day stay can be extended once at a Federal Police office in Brazil for another 90 days within the same 12-month period. The extension fee is BRL 204.

Tropical climate on Guanabara Bay. Summer (December–March) is hot and very wet at 28–37°C with intense afternoon downpours that regularly flood approach roads and occasionally cause airport disruptions. January and February see the highest rainfall and are the most disruption-prone months operationally.
Winter (June–September) is warm and drier at 22–28°C. This is the most operationally stable period. The airport sits on Ilha do Governador. Approach paths are over water, but the surrounding terrain causes occasional windshear on the south runway. Rio's Carnival period (February–March) creates extreme traffic on ground access routes.
