Ethiopian passport holders need a Schengen visa to enter Germany. Apply at the German embassy in Addis Ababa or through the VFS Global center. The type C short-stay visa costs EUR 80 and allows up to 90 days within any 180-day period. You need a completed application form, two biometric passport photos, travel medical insurance with EUR 30,000 minimum coverage, proof of accommodation, return flight reservation, and 3 months of bank statements. If you have a sponsor in Germany, they must submit a formal obligation letter (Verpflichtungserklaerung) from their local Auslaenderbehorde. This is a separate process on their end.

Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area and have 2 blank pages. The German embassy in Addis Ababa handles a high volume of applications.
