Tijuana Puerto Vallarta
Volaris and Frontier fly Tijuana to Puerto Vallarta nonstop, about two and a half hours. Combined they run a few flights daily.
San Diego has limited seasonal service to Puerto Vallarta, so for most of the year CBX is the only nonstop option from the San Diego area. Walk across the bridge at Otay Mesa, fly Volaris for under $100 one way during promotions. Even when SAN has seasonal nonstops, the Tijuana fare usually undercuts by a wide margin.
Puerto Vallarta airport sits right on the coast between the Hotel Zone and downtown. A taxi to the Romantic Zone is 15 minutes. To Nuevo Vallarta or Riviera Nayarit resorts, allow 30 to 45 minutes north. Uber works at PVR.

Connecting through Tijuana from a domestic flight
Puerto Vallarta is the destination. PVR does not connect meaningfully to other cities. If you want to visit both PVR and Guadalajara, Volaris flies TIJ-GDL directly — no need to route through Puerto Vallarta.
Tijuana & Puerto Vallarta Airport Profiles

Which Airlines Fly Which Pairs
Not all planes are the same size. The aircraft type below each checkmark tells you whether you are getting a widebody (777, 787, A350) with wider seats and a quieter ride, or a narrowbody (737, A321) with a single aisle. On flights over five hours, the difference is significant.
