Condor Ferries runs from Poole (4 hours 30 minutes) and Portsmouth (10 hours overnight). Jersey uses the Jersey pound (JEP) at parity with GBP. British pounds are accepted everywhere. Jersey pounds are not widely accepted in the UK. No vaccination requirements. The island is 9 miles by 5 miles, so car hire is optional if you stay in St. Helier.
